Morning Star Bakery and Cafe was born from a lifelong dream—and a second chance. Our founders have lived in this community for over 30 years. While traveling the world, they imagined creating a place in their own neighborhood where friends, family, and strangers alike could gather, connect, and be inspired. A place focused on relationships, rooted in warmth, beauty, and excellence.

That dream lived quietly for years. In July 2024, everything changed. After a cycling accident just around the corner, one of our founders had no pulse for nine minutes. Thanks to the Lord and a woman who happened to pass by and perform CPR, life was restored—and clarity came with it. The dream could no longer wait.

Over the past year, Morning Star took shape through intentional planning, deep research, and global inspiration—from Copenhagen’s legendary bakeries to the quiet excellence found in Japan. Today, Morning Star is a from-scratch bakery and cafe designed around people, food, and place.

Our bakery is the engine—visible, alive, and central—powering pastries, breads, and small plates made with care. Our drinks are hand-crafted and served with intention. Our space is warm, welcoming, and relational.

Above all, Morning Star is a place to connect, to reflect, and to recharge. A place you leave better than you came. And a place you’ll return to—again and again.

The Morning Star brand holds layers of meaning. The whimsical logo is inspired by our own horse, Mara, named after the Kenyan wildlife sanctuary. Horses are a source of joy, beauty and companionship, and we believe the same is true for the bakery. The name Morning Star dates back over three decades in our family, originating from a ski trip founded by Otto Bosshard. Its Biblical meaning points to the promise of a new day, filled with hope.
